Our History
1952:
Birth of church, first church building erected 512 North Sylvia Street, in a little white building. The church was led by several ministers for the next few years.
1978:
In preperation for what God was going to do, land was purchased on 800 South Main Street.
1980:
Pastor Rick Pavlu and wife, Beverly, was elected on the first Sunday in January by 13 voting members. The church only numbered around 20 members.
1984:
Strategically began teaching Home Bible Studies.
1986:
In another act of faith, the church, consisting of 80 people, worked to complete the second phase of the building program. They completed the project that would seat over 450 people on Easter Sunday.
1999:
The final note of the church building was completely paid off. In May, the church transitioned from a program based church, to a small group, family oriented church.
2001:
Activity Center was built.
2005:
First full time staff member (beside pastor) added to church staff: Associate Pastor Rick Hardwick.
2006:
Second full time staff member added to church staff: Youth Pastor Jonathan Walton.
Under the leadership of Pastor Rick Pavlu and the blessings of the Lord, The Church Point Pentecostals have gradually grown from 20 to a church of 200. The church has thrived by always striving to meet the needs of all people regardless of age, race, educational, or socio-economic status.
